Technical Features
The Emotion Engine was a custom-designed chip by Sony and Toshiba, optimized for 3D rendering and physics simulations. It enabled the PS2 to deliver advanced effects like real-time shadows, motion blur, and complex particle systems — well ahead of its time.
The system also featured DVD playback, which helped it double as a home entertainment device, significantly boosting its popularity in the early 2000s.
